Sirius A, the brightest star in the night sky, is located in the constellation Canis Major, approximately 8.6 light-years from Earth. As part of a binary system with the faint white dwarf Sirius B, it has a radius about 1.7 times that of the Sun and a mass roughly 2.02 times greater. Its surface temperature of around 9,940 Kelvin gives it a blue-white hue. With 25 times the luminosity of the Sun, Sirius A's brightness and proximity have made it a significant star in various cultures and historical navigation.
